Deborah Lyn O’Brien – Children’s Leukemia Foundation
The DLOB Children’s Leukemia Foundation was inspired by the late Deborah Lyn O’Brien. Deborah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Leukemia – NK cell leukemia and sadly passed away in July 2007. Deborah had a giving heart and felt very strongly about helping children. In particular those from rural and outback Australia that have to travel long distances to receive proper medical care. In loving memory of Deb, Leigh O’Brien founded the Deborah Lyn O’Brien Children’s Leukemia Foundation.
This foundation will provide funding for travel expenses, accommodation and medical expenses to children and their immediate families.
There are many and varied demands placed on parents and families when a child is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Many urgent decisions need to be made about treatments and procedures and in many cases the care of siblings and other dependent family members. Treatment requires specialist care that is only available at metropolitan and regional hospitals. As a result many parents and other family members have to spend some time away from the comfort of their own home and adjust to new and unfamiliar surroundings.
The Ettamogah Group P/L will donate a percentage of all food, beverage and merchandise sales to the DLOB Children’s Leukemia Foundation.
There are also many fundraising events that will be scheduled at venues around Australia, beginning with The Ettamogah Pub Albury – For updates “like”our Facebook page.
